This area is the heart of the city with Nevsky Prospect, St. Petersburg`s main thoroughfare running nearby. The main railroad station - Moscow Station is located in this area so it is a very convenient place to stay in for travelers. The area is short walking distance from many of the city`s major attractions: The Hermitage Museum, the Russian Museum, Kazansky Cathedral as well as many others. There are many interesting architectural sites in this area. Take a walk and look at the various facades of many of the old, grand buildings. Many of the city`s businesses are located in this area as are numerous restaurants and stores. If you are in the city during the white nights season, between mid May and mid August, don`t miss a chance to stroll along the embankment and watch the many bridges across the Neva rise - it is really a spectacular site that you will never forget.
